The team at DJK Air Conditioning are your local air conditioning experts based in Tennyson, Brisbane. Operating since 1990, Derrick and our team of mechanics continue to gain the loyalty of our valued customers and build our reputation as one of Brisbane’s leading air conditioning companies.
DJK Air Conditioning was founded in 1990 by Derrick John Kennedy after he discovered his passion for sales. With an apprenticeship at Carrier Air Conditioning up his sleeve, Derrick gained around 10 years of experience in the industry at contracting firms such as AE Smith and Wylie, and Fridgrite where he took on a supervisory role. When he discovered the niche market of supplying specialised air conditioning services, Derrick decided to start his own business. With around 30 years of persistence and hard work, DJK has since grown from a small business to a reputable company in the industry.
We have worked with many major clients throughout our years of air conditioning installations and servicing. These include the Queensland Fire and Rescue Authority, Remax, Bank of Queensland, local schools and many more. As well our commercial work, DJK has developed a strong base of loyal customers that we can proudly say makes working not feel like work at all.
In 2001, DJK Air Conditioning was appointed the title of ‘Diamond Dealer’ by Mitsubishi Electric. This was a great reward that showed our dedication to work was paying off, as well as providing us with an incentive to continue in our profession. Our respected title has since allowed us to develop strong relationships with our supplier as well as many other air conditioning businesses, giving us industry knowledge and ensuring our continual growth as a local company.
We offer a range of services for both commercial and residential clients, from installing and maintaining air conditioning systems to selling products that contribute to strong and healthy systems. Check out our services page to find out more.

Derrick Kennedy
Director and Design Engineer
Derrick founded DJK Air Conditioning in 1990, after many years developing his skills in the field of air conditioning and refrigeration. Derrick’s primary role in the business is as a sales and design engineers, whilst also overseeing and implementing business development strategies.
Troy Grice
General Operations Manager
Troy joined the team in 2003 after 16 years working at Viscount Plastics. Once starting at DJK Air Conditioning, Troy’s potential was very clear where he demonstrates exemplary standards in all aspects of his career, leading him to take on the role of a Contracts Manager. He enjoys the responsibility of working directly with the customers and being part of a small team that prides itself of prompt service, quality workmanship and providing a polite and happy working environment.
Michelle Grice
Finance and Administration
Michelle started working with DJK in 2012, and demonstrated outstanding skills in the areas of admin and finance from the beginning. After working at Best and Less as part of the management team for 14 years, her consistently positive attitude and work ethic makes the operations of the office efficient and stress-free. We are more than grateful for the work that she does!
Angus Kennedy
Apprentice Technician
Angus is one of our youngest employees and is currently completing his apprenticeship with us. After finishing his first year of university studying Mechanical Engineering at QUT, Angus realised his passion was in trades and joined DJK Air Conditioning in 2016. Angus has a very clear future in the industry, striving to one day be the jack of all trades.
Isabel Kennedy
Business Development Manager
Isabel recently joined the team at DJK in 2017 and has been appointed the role of Business Development Manager. Isabel hopes to learn more about what it takes to run a business as she completes her Bachelor of International Hotel, Tourism, and Events Management degree at the University of Queensland.
